COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS 2017 CONFERENCE

We continued the tradition of conferences dedicated to the use of the COMSOL Multiphysics program on 25.-26.5. 2017 in the hotel Kraví hora in Bořetice.

For those of us who had already arrived on Wednesday evening, the immediate surroundings of the hotel, known as the „Free Federal Republic of Cow Mountain“ provided an opportunity for a walk. The evening ended unplanned with a fun tasting in Mr. Jambor's wine cellar.

After the initial „mandatory program“ (introduction to the news in the COMSOL Multiphysics program), the program of the first day of the conference was largely adapted to the preferences of the participants – the topics of workshops and mini-courses were selected on the basis of a survey completed by the participants of last year's conference. During the workshops, all participants could try their hand at the COMSOL Multiphysics tool. Step by step, they solved tasks that were first demonstrated „live“ by performed experiments – the distribution of the electromagnetic field in a microwave oven and the bending of the laser beam in a sugar solution. During the invited lecture, Associate Professor Petr Sváček from FSI ČVUT introduced the participants to the history and principles of the finite element method in an engaging way.

After dinner we set out to conquer the highest mountain in the area – we climbed the lookout tower on Kraví hora, towering at 270 m above sea level. After returning the expedition to the base camp at 190 m above sea level, the evening program continued with wine tasting and fun with dulcimer music.

The second day of the conference offered a presentation of users after an introductory mini-course on „Advanced Results Processing.“ Contributions from users showed that COMSOL Multiphysics is already used in our country not only in science and research, but also for solving interesting tasks in practice. In parallel, individual consultations continued, which stretched into the deep afternoon, long after the official end of the conference.

Your growing interest in this conference has pleased us, I believe we will meet in even greater numbers next time.

See you at COMSOL Multiphysics 2018!
